hololive Dreams on Steam Deck — dwproton Fix (August 12, 2026)

Steam Deck players can now run hololive Dreams (holodori) without the launch blockers that earned the game a Bronze ProtonDB rating at release. On August 12, 2026, the community Proton build dwproton 11.0-11 shipped missing features and launch fixes so the Steam version starts out of the box on Deck hardware. This guide covers what changed, how to install the layer, and how to keep rhythm play comfortable on a handheld.

What broke at launch

At the July 23, 2026 Steam launch, many Deck users reported the client failing to start or hanging before the title screen. ProtonDB settled on Bronze with repeated “does not launch” notes. That was a compatibility-layer problem, not a missing Steam listing — the store page was live while Deck runtime support lagged.

What dwproton 11.0-11 fixed (August 12)

dwproton is a community Proton fork aimed at gacha and anime PC ports. Version 11.0-11 changelog highlights:

• Implemented missing features required by hololive Dreams
• Fixed blockers that prevented the game from launching
• Result: the title is reported fully playable out of the box on Steam Deck

Install dwproton on Steam Deck

1. Switch to Desktop Mode.
2. Open Discover and install ProtonPlus (or another Proton manager you already trust).
3. Inside ProtonPlus, download dwproton 11.0-11 (or newer if it supersedes this build).
4. Return to Gaming Mode → Steam library → hololive Dreams → gear → Properties → Compatibility.
5. Enable Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool and select the dwproton build you installed.
6. Launch once and confirm you reach the title / account screen.

If the game still fails, verify the Deck OS is updated, delete only the Proton prefix after backing up saves, then relaunch once with the same tool.

Controls and rhythm comfort

• Prefer a landscape hold with the device on a stand for long Expert farms.
• Re-run audio offset after the first Deck session — handheld speakers and Bluetooth headphones often differ from desktop.
• Use Steam Input profiles if default face-button mapping feels cramped for flicks.
• Enable Streamer Mode before capture if you record Deck gameplay of restricted covers.

Cross-save with phone
